UMT is part of the Erasmus+ CBHE “SINCERE” project aimed at strengthening academic integrity.

The University of Medicine, Tirana is part of the Erasmus+ CBHE project “Strengthening Integrity and Ethical Culture in Regional Higher Education – SINCERE”, a regional initiative focused on strengthening the culture of integrity and ethics in higher education in Albania and Kosovo.

The kick-off meeting was held at the “Fan S. Noli” University, where the participating institutions presented their roles and contributions to the implementation of the project.

The consortium consists of nine partner institutions from Albania, Kosovo, Romania, Poland, and Serbia.

The purpose of the SINCERE project

“SINCERE” aims to establish a unified and sustainable approach to academic integrity through:

the development of structured policies and procedures for academic integrity;

the use of digital tools for detecting plagiarism and AI-generated content;

the establishment of an Academic Integrity Task Force in each partner institution;

training for academic and administrative staff on the management of ethical violations;

the creation of a Regional Academic Integrity Network, which will continue its activities beyond the project’s duration.

Impact

The project is expected to bring improvements at the level of:

individual – increased awareness and competencies in ethics;

institutional – clear, transparent, and enforceable standards and procedures;

systemic – strengthening of ethical practices in line with European Union models.

Academic integrity is the foundation of the quality and credibility of higher education institutions. UMT remains committed to strengthening ethical values in teaching, research, and institutional activities.
