The University of Medicine, Tirana (UMT) continues its engagement in European initiatives aimed at strengthening quality, integrity, and ethical culture in higher education through its participation in the SINCERE project – Strengthening Integrity and Ethical Culture in Regional Higher Education, funded by the Erasmus+ Programme.
As part of this engagement, a presentation on the SINCERE project was delivered by Ms. Anila Prendi, Project Coordinator for the University of Medicine, Tirana.
During the presentation, the project’s purpose, objectives, and key areas of focus were presented, along with the importance of strengthening academic integrity and ethical culture in higher education institutions.
SINCERE aims to promote the principles of integrity, transparency, and accountability in teaching, research, and university governance. The project supports the development and improvement of institutional policies, the strengthening of academic integrity mechanisms, and the use of digital tools to prevent and detect practices that undermine academic integrity, including plagiarism.
An important component of the project is also the capacity building of academic staff and students, with the aim of creating a university environment where integrity and ethics are an integral part of the institutional culture.
SINCERE brings together partner institutions from Albania, Kosovo, Romania, Poland, Serbia, and Hungary, creating opportunities for the exchange of experiences and good practices, as well as for the development of joint approaches in the field of integrity and ethics in higher education.
The participation of the University of Medicine, Tirana, in this project represents an important opportunity to contribute to the development of institutional standards and to strengthen a university culture based on integrity, ethics, transparency, and accountability.
Through its engagement in SINCERE, UMT aims to continue contributing to the promotion of high-quality, trustworthy higher education aligned with European standards, placing academic integrity at the heart of the development of the university community.
