
MEETING WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE BIOSINT PROJECT, TIRANA, JUNE 4–5 2025
On June 4 and 5, 2025, the next meeting of the European Union Project, BIOSINT, “Strengthening Capacities and Digital Competences in Biomedical Education through Internationalization at Home”, was successfully held at the Faculty of Dental Medicine, University of Medicine, Tirana.
This project, part of the Erasmus+ program (Strand 2 – Capacity Building in Higher Education) and co-financed by the European Union, is coordinated by the University of Kragujevac, Serbia, and brings together 9 (nine) partner universities from the Balkans and the EU to strengthen institutional capacities and integrate internationalization and digital competences in biomedical education.
During the meeting, the concrete results of the project for the Faculty of Dental Medicine were presented, including:
- Completion of the institutional analysis on internationalization at home;
- Drafting and adoption of the Strategy for Internationalization at Home;
- Integration of international elements into the curricula (38 ECTS included in the revised syllabus);
- Development and piloting of three international virtual courses;
- Equipping the Faculty with modern technology and the establishment of a virtual classroom;
- Training of over 240 students, academic, and administrative staff in internationalization at home, digital education, and international collaboration;
- Preparation of practical materials such as the Guide for International Staff and Students, the Safety Protocol, and the creation of the Buddy System.
The meeting served as an important platform for the exchange of experiences among partners, discussions on the challenges and opportunities of internationalization in higher education, and the strengthening of collaboration networks among participating institutions.
The event was attended by representatives from: The University of Kragujevac – BIOSINT Project Coordinator, KU Leuven, the University of Tuzla, the University of Mostar, the University of East Sarajevo, the University of Shkodra “Luigj Gurakuqi,” and the University of Montenegro.
The opening ceremony took place on June 4, with welcome speeches and discussions on the importance of internationalization in biomedical education, particularly the benefits of the project for the Faculty of Dental Medicine.
The meeting concluded on June 5 with an assessment of progress and planning of the next phases of the project.
